Besides the things already recommended to you, another one is notmuch.
That's not the same as using imap by any stretch, after all you'd need to fetch
email locally instead of keeping them server side.

But with notmuch you index the emails and simply do virtual queries over the store.
So as far as notmuch is concerned you have a single "account".

Sending address can be set to whatever by default, using the correct one upon replying
(say if your default is "personal at example.com" but you reply to a message received on
"spam at somethingelse.yolo", you'd use the spam@ address without manual intervention)

I use that setup for 4 main accounts, plus some low traffic postmaster@ addresses.
