[neomutt-users] executing shell scripts with startup-hooks

has anyone got executing shellscripts with startup-hook or shutdown-hook to
work with neomutt? Nothing I try seems to work. github seems to have a page
on the bug: https://github.com/neomutt/neomutt/issues/1269 .

Did anyone find a workaround?
