[neomutt-users] signing message -> error

my current neomutt (20180716-1108-40af05) yields
an error when sending off a to-be-signed message
after entering the passphrase :-(

  gpg: signing failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
  gpg: signing failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
  Press any key to continue...

also.. startup takes over two minutes
rather than the usual four seconds. :-(

the debug file has lots of these messages:

 mutt_copy_hdr() WEED is Not
 mutt_body_free() not unlinking smime.p7m.

not sure what to make of these at all.

oh.. this server has just had a reboot and
apparently an update on the the libssl:

  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.2
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.1

maybe this is related to my problem?
this also means i cannot revert to an older version
as they link to libssl.so.1 - no longer available.

has anyone seen any of this, too? any suggestions
to which compile options to turn on or off?
(futimens? meta? what were those about?)

i'd sign this message.. but.. can't. :-/

Sven
